Anger boils over train crash in Greece, as audio released of driver being told to ignore red light After a train station manager in Larissa was arrested in connection to the collision, Greek authorities on Thursday made public striking dispatch recordings that show one of the train drivers receiving instructions to ignore a red light.“Proceed through red traffic light exit until traffic light entry of Neon Poron,” the station master is heard saying.“Vasilis, am I good to go?” the train driver responds, to which the train master says “Go, go.”In a second conversation, the station master can be heard ordering an employee to keep one of the trains on the same track.“Shall I turn it now?” the employee asks.“No, no, because 1564 is on this route,” the station master says.The station master has been charged with mass deaths through negligence and causing grievous bodily harm through negligence. Upon arrest he blamed the collision on a technical fault, though later admitted to “making a mistake.”

Candidates were allegedly not supposed to be older than 42, according to the website of Kathimerini, which first published a report on the man charged with manslaughter by negligence.The station manager, according to the report, was employed for several years by the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) as a warehouse worker. Then in 2013, as part of a program to cut jobs, he was transferred to another public agency and only at the beginning of this year, after a six-month-long training course, he was appointed train station manager in Larissa.Meanwhile, the train station of Larissa was searched on Friday morning by police as part of the investigation into the causes of the disaster. Police seized "all documents that can help the investigation", a spokesperson said.
First class stamp price to rise to £1.10The price of a first class stamp is to rise above £1 in April, Royal Mail has announced.From 3 April, first class stamps will increase by 15p to £1.10, while second class stamps will rise by 7p to 75p.
