Car accident with tourist bus on national road, four dead

A tourist bus crashed with two cars on a national road near the municipality of Paionia in North Greece on Sunday morning. Three individuals lost their lives and many have been injured. 

The fire brigade spokesperson Giannis Artopoios stated that three unconscious people were removed from one of the two cars. A heavily injured fourth individual was removed from the same car. The fourth passenger died later on Sunday. From the second car, two heavily injured individuals have been rescued. In the tourist bus, there were about 20 injured individuals.

Two new fire fronts in the Peloponnese and in Zakynthos island

A fire broke out in a forest area in Goumero village at Ilias, Peloponnese on Sunday afternoon. Another broke out in a forest region at Keri in Zakynthos island the same day.

In Zakynthos, there are 14 firefighters with seven vehicles and three aircraft on mission.

Storm Daniel death toll rises to 14

Two more bodies were found in Karditsa on Sunday, raising the death toll from the floods in central Greece to 14. Three individuals are still missing.

The bodies of the missing 88-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man were found in the village of Metamorfosis in Karditsa, Thessaly.

Earlier on Sunday, the body of a 58-year-old man, who was missing since Wednesday, was located by a drone in a nearby area.

Not far from Kilkis, I think

This is a particularly dangerous road - part of the E75 highway, it is in the dual-carriageway style of the modern motorways like Egnatia Odos but without a central reservation for the most part (meaning vehicles are often approaching each other at a combined speed of over 200 kmh with nothing to prevent a head-on collision) and it has an extremely bad and bumpy road surface in places.  There was another accident only very recently on the same road involving a jack-knifed articulated lorry blocking the road for several hours - and this is a major exit road from Greece into North Macedonia.  Plans have been afoot to upgrade it since 2018, but...
