ATHENS, March 6 (Reuters) - Fraport Greece, majority owned by Germany's Fraport, said on Monday it has raised 620 million euros in a share offering bringing it closer to a deal to manage 14 regional Greek airports.Fraport signed a 1.2 billion euro ($1.3 billion) deal in 2015 to operate the provincial airports on tourist islands including Corfu and Santorini, and has established an airport management company in Athens.It is expected to begin operating the airports in March.

German-Greek consortium Fraport Greece will officially take over the management of 14 regional airports in Greece on March 15, an official of the company told Reuters news agency on Wednesday.
The transfer of management of 14 Greek airports to German transport company Fraport has once again been delayed.According to the German Press Agency (dpa), the date of March 15 which was set by the company as the day of the take over, cannot be met.A spokesman of Fraport on Monday confirmed to dpa that the completion of the process is expected in the coming weeks.
The 14 regional airports to be conceded to Fraport Greece will be ready for delivery around Easter, according to sources close to the process. The precise date cannot yet be determined.

I don't see how a new terminal could be built where the existing one is, because airport operations need to continue. I always suspected that the old one would be revamped and a new terminal would be built separately. In the first four years of its 40-year contract with the Greek state, Fraport Greece is planning to invest a sum of 400 million euros in the 14 regional airports it will take control of next month, according to the investment plan it released on Wednesday. The amount announced is 70 million euros higher than what the contract required.Almost a quarter of the investment (95 million euros) will go toward upgrading Thessaloniki’s Makedonia airport, the second biggest in Greece. The plan also provides for the construction of five new terminal buildings – at Thessaloniki, Corfu, Cephalonia (Argostoli), Kos and Lesvos (Mytilene).
