Sealed cardboard box of cats found dumped

A sealed cardboard box of cats has been found by a dogwalker in Somerset.

The three "terrified" cats were discovered inside a taped-up cardboard box in a hedge near Ilminster and taken to Ferne Animal Sanctuary.

A sanctuary spokesperson, said: "These poor cats were so lucky to be found.

"They were not placed somewhere they were likely to be spotted and would more than likely have starved to death."

Greece welcomed over 30 mln tourists last year

Travel receipts in 2023 totaled 20.59 billion euros, up by 16.5% compared with 2022, the Bank of Greece said on Tuesday in a final report on 2023.

This development was driven by an 11.6% increase in receipts from residents of the European Union, which stood at €11.17 billion or 54.2% of total travel receipts, and by an 18.3% rise in receipts from other counties’ residents to €8.57 billion.

Whilst MS acknowledge there will be no automatic fix, the manual instructions to change partition size are still valid.

Thanks for that, Tony! I always kept an eye open for askwoody.com and computerhope.com back in the days before I discovered Linux Mint. I rediscovered them but recently, only to forget again. Still very informative, though I'm often surprised by GGi readers who'll happily "follow manual instructions to change partition size" and those who'll be wary of taking the side cover off their desktop pc. Hey ho!

Microsoft confirms it can't fix KB5034441 0x80070643 error on Windows 10

Microsoft could not pull the update because of the nature of the patch, i.e. it is a high security risk that it poses, it has to be addressed. This also meant that users continued to experience the error every time they checked for updates and tried to download the package.

Users have been waiting for a fix for it for four months, and now Microsoft says it cannot fix it.

Parrots taught to video call prefer to chat to their friends rather than hear recorded messages

Parrots, who were taught to video call, may prefer live chatting with their friends rather than listening to recorded messages.

New research by the University of Glasgow suggests this is because the birds may be able to tell the difference between live and pre-recorded videos.

They said the findings could pave the way for a future with an “animal-centred internet”, allowing pets to interact with each other – as well as with humans – using technology.

The curious case of the missing Lanarkshire cats

When Tracy McCulloch's cat, Pepe, went missing from his East Kilbride home, she was puzzled to find him miles away in Motherwell.

After discovering that other cats from the area had also been found there and close by, she was convinced something suspicious was going on.

The missing cats were found up to 10 miles away, in and around areas such as Newarthill, Holytown and Motherwell.

With at least nine cats disappearing from East Kilbride, her daughter Sam set up a Facebook page to help solve the mystery.

Hm, one on left looks a bit like Basil  :hmm:

"May I ask what you expected to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Hordes of KGB agents sweeping down across the steppes?"
