Internet access by phone is far more expensive in Greece

Broadband access for cell phone users is particularly pricey in Greece, as a European Commission survey has shown that Greek mobile networks have made internet access by cell phone about 90 percent more expensive than the European Union average.

When a tablet or laptop is used to go online, the difference between the cost in Greece and the EU average comes to 50 percent.

Future looks grim for the home market

Prospects for the Greek residential property market remain particularly gloomy, according to a survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers consultants.

Using a realistic scenario with 0.6 percent annual economic growth in which per capita gross domestic product returns to pre-crisis (i.e. before 2008) levels in around 2030, the study forecasts that home prices will not return to their peak (of the 2002-08 period) before 2050.

Are Europe’s young people fed up with the EU?

Like most things in Greece these days the youth scene is extremely polarised. The majority is very anti-EU, against the European establishment. The reasons for that vary though.

Young people tend to be very disillusioned, both with the Greek state and the EU, mostly because of the EU's inability to deliver solutions, especially jobs.

Greece has one of Europe's biggest youth unemployment rates. There is a minority which is very engaged and pro-EU, they are aware of programmes like the Youth Guarantee, and they are very vocal about it. But I'd say they make up 15% at best.

Young Greeks are very engaged with social media, but broad EU campaigns via Twitter or Facebook won't reach those who don't want to be reached by the EU. Youths are clustered around certain websites or information sources, and are not easily reached by EU campaigns.
