Chickens team up to ‘peck fox to death’Chickens come home to roost for ‘inexperienced’ foxA fox has died in extraordinary circumstances after losing the ultimate game of chicken during a night-time raid on a henhouse.Students at Gros-Chêne secondary school in Brittany were shocked to discover the dead body of the fox riddled with peck marks during their morning rounds last week.The school maintains their brood of free-range chickens ganged up on the animal, attacking it in large numbers and overcoming it.The animal was reportedly surrounded, then killed in a corner of the building home to 3,000 chickens.
Greece wins plaudits for tourism performanceGreece outperformed other European Union countries in the travel and tourism sector last year, according to latest figures.The sector grew at a rate of 6.9% – more than three and a half times the pace of the wider national economy, which grew by 2%.The country outpaced the EU’s regional travel and tourism growth rate of 2.4%.The sector represents 20.6% of Greek GDP compared to a global average of 10.4%.This means that one in every five euros spent in Greece last year came from travel and tourism, worth €37.5 billion.One quarter of all employment in Greece is based in travel and tourism – equivalent to almost one million jobs.

Ben ran away from his owners while on a walk near Loch Avon in the Cairngorms earlier this week and got lost in the bad weather conditions.Two days later, the Inverness Coastguard helicopter crew rescued the Cavachon dog after he was spotted on a narrow ledge above a 200ft drop.The crew were on a training exercise when winchmen were dropped off to collect the creature which appeared to be "terrified and cold".Ben was covered in snow when he was brought onboard the helicopter after spending two days in the wintery conditions.
