Greece scraps legal need for lay-off justification

Greece’s new center-right government has scrapped legislation that required employers to provide a “well-founded” reason for dismissals.

Labor Minister Giannis Vroutsis signed the change into effect Monday, abolishing the rules approved just three month by the previous left-wing government which had argued that justifying dismissals protected workers.

‘Mindless wanton destruction’: Schoolboys’ parents to pay £1,500 after £30,000 model railway show trashed

Their parents were ordered to pay £500 each in compensation for the damage – a total of £1,500. The fourth boy will be sentenced next month.

John Lock, chair of the bench of magistrates, told the youths:...  “It would not be right to put you into custody. You have all got good futures and it is right that you make best use of them. Nothing can compensate for what you did that night.”

Jamie Demetriou: ‘Stath Lets Flats is about everything but Brexit’
The writer and actor chats to Ellie Harrison about Greekness, hipsters and why no one on ‘Love Island’ calls anyone out for talking crap – ‘because they’re all talking crap’

Demetriou, 31, is the creator and star of Stath Lets Flats on Channel 4, a shrewdly observed, supremely quotable comedy about a moronic, yet lovable, Greek-Cypriot lettings agent.

From what I can make out, an unattended car fell into the sea at Poros port earlier today...  :dunno:

(Apparently Poros is one of many ports around the Greek islands that aren't 'ideal' for ferries, in this case it's exposed to the elements... but it's been used for years without too much problem) (not that that's anything to do with the car falling into the sea).

Earlier this afternoon a helicopter plunged into the sea off Poros island, three people on board said to be missing.
