Donald Trump ready to accept key parts of Obamacare - 'I like those very much'

President-elect Donald Trump has watered down his pledge to scrap Obamacare in its entirety.

Having based his campaign on a pledge to erase the Obama presidency  and its legacy, Mr Trump rowed back in his  first major interview since the election.

Mr Trump had promised he would ask Congress to repeal the act in full on the first day of his presidency.

However, he  told the Wall Street Journal that he was willing to keep two of the Affordable Care Act's  key provisions in place.

Donald Trump has appeared to soften his stance on a range of sweeping campaign pledges, saying in his first interview since being elected US president that he might not repeal Obamacare and that prosecuting Hillary Clinton over confidential emails was not a priority.
