Paul Nicholls rescued after three days trapped at foot of Thai waterfall

A British actor who worked on Eastenders and Channel 4 drama Ackley Bridge has been rescued three days after falling from the top of a jungle waterfall and smashing his leg on the Thai island of Koh Samui.

Paul Nicholls, 38, was found in agony at the base of Khun Si falls after a local spotted his abandoned rental motorbike, which police traced to his real name – Gerrard Paul Greenhalgh – prompting a search.

He was found partially submerged in a rock pool, semi-conscious and with hypothermia, unable to move to safety or find food.

Sounds as though the Skala councillors who resigned have asked for the resignations to disregarded. Hopefully the various little problems in Skala have been / will be sorted (sometime this millennium).

Biggest beachside swimming pool in Europe opens in Greece

The biggest beachfront pool in Europe opened on Mykonos earlier this month, providing a full 22,600-square-feet of Instagrammable goodness for the perfect selfie backdrop.

The giant saltwater pool is inside new beach club SantAnna, which officially opened its doors on the Greek island on 5 July.

There’s free entry to the pool and club but visitors are charged for seating; it costs from around €20 to reserve a lounger, with prices changing depending on location.

Guests can also opt to relax away from prying eyes on a “VIP Island” – floating areas on the pool, coupled with private cabins underground where you can shower and change – for €500.

There’s even a Royal Island, which boasts a larger area and access to an oversized subterranean apartment for when you want to nap indoors.

State pension age rise brought forward

Six million men and women will have to wait a year longer than they expected to get their state pension, the government has announced.

The rise in the pension age to 68 will now be phased in between 2037 and 2039, rather than from 2044 as was originally proposed.

Those affected are currently between the ages of 39 and 47.

Just wondering how many in that age group started full time work at 16 or earlier.
I'm 62 but cannot retire until 66 despite working from 16 years old, some friends left school at 15. The DWP site pension age calculator set up by previous Labour government, who increased my retirement age to 65, would not and will not accept that I started work at that age. So imagining that most stay in education now until 18 they will not be working any longer than I have to.
