Farmers urged to bury their underpants to improve quality of their beef

The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) and Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) claim interring a pair of cotton smalls in a pasture can reveal vital information about soil fertility.

According to the experts, sterile and lifeless soil will keep underwear intact, but organically thriving soil will eat away at the briefs, leaving nothing but the elastic waistband.

Dig up the pants after just two months, and it is possible to judge how healthy the land is.

Cache of antique coins found in drawer at Scotney Castle

Most of the 186 coins are Roman... But they range from a silver coin showing a sea turtle, made in the seventh century BC for the tiny Greek island of Aegina...

Kostas Manolas suspended for Greece playoff after 'intentional' yellow card

FIFA has suspended Greece defender Kostas Manolas for a World Cup qualifying playoff for "intentionally seeking a yellow card."

Manolas was adjudged to be guilty of trying to manipulate his disciplinary record in a World Cup qualifier by getting a yellow card that triggered a one-match ban.

He served that in Greece's final group-stage qualifier, cleaning his record for the playoffs against Croatia. Had he picked up that yellow card in the final qualifier, he would have been suspended for the first leg of the playoff.

He will now be suspended anyway, as the FIFA sanction announced on Friday is an additional ban for deception.
