Lightning surge recorded across Greece in June

June was an electric month for Greece, as the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) recorded 93,580 electrostatic discharges, most of which were lightning strikes, across the country.

According to data published on Tuesday by NOA’s weather website, Meteo, every single day of June saw lightning and just a handful of islands – where storms are rare – escaped the increased electrostatic activity.

Ryanair pilots vote to strike next week with threat of more walkouts to come

The biggest effect on UK travellers is likely to be on Irish Sea services from Dublin, Cork and Shannon to British airports. But Ryanair is likely to be considering options for deploying pilots from other bases around Europe.

In Germany, the Vereinigung Cockpit union is balloting Ryanair pilots in a dispute over pay and workloads.

Ryanair says the vast majority of its flights on 12 July will be unaffected, because 93 per cent of services do not operate to or from Ireland.

England squeezed past a nasty Colombian side 4-3 on penalties (yes, England won on penalties) so Kef's bars are likely to be busier than usual this Saturday when England play Sweden at 16:00 EEST (14:00 BST).

14:00 in UK according to FIFA, where it says (top left) "Kick-offs are shown in your time zone"

... but, looking elsewhere, it seems to be 15:00 BST / 17:00 EEST. I guess FIFA were stating GMT/UTC  :dunno:

Thanks, Alan  :btu:
