Seems very low key this year, the annual Telemakeios Skala-Poros road race. Just watched the winner cross the line in 51 minutes, followed by second runner a minute or two after. A big gap now...

A light shower en route helped cool them down.

Looking mostly like a veterans event and, so far, females (just) outnumbering males... ah, a few more vet males coming in now. One male teenager so far, finished 4th, and first female (mid 20s?) finished in around 1 hour 5 mins. Still a few making it in...

Tens of thousands of goats munch Greek island into crisis

SAMOTHRAKI, Greece (AP) - With oak and chestnut forests, waterfalls and rugged coastline, Samothraki has a wild beauty and a remoteness that sets it apart from other Greek islands.

There are no package holidays here or even a reliable ferry service to the mainland. Island authorities hope to achieve UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status. Yet still, the natural environment is under threat from an insatiable assailant.

Goats outnumber human inhabitants 15-fold and they are munching stretches of Samothraki into a moonscape.

Funny you should mention it, Colleywobble - my pumps came in handy... for a slow stroll around the pool!

It's nice warm rain  :)
