Based on National Bank of Greece exchange rates.
Other banks likely to offer rates which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g. the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Greece becomes first Orthodox Christian country to legalise same-sex marriage

Greece has become the first Orthodox Christian country to legalise same-sex civil marriage, despite opposition from church officials.

A cross-party majority of 176 lawmakers in the 300-seat parliament voted late on Thursday in favour of the bill drafted by the centre-right government of the prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Another 76 rejected the reform while two abstained from the vote and 46 were not present for the vote.

The new law recognises parental rights for same-sex couples, but will not allow gay men to acquire biological children through surrogate mothers in Greece.

Opinion polls have suggested that most Greeks support the reform by a narrow margin and the issue has not triggered deep divisions in a country more worried about the high cost of living.

Millions of donkeys killed each year to make medicine

Donkey thefts like this have become increasingly common across many parts of Africa - and in other parts of the world that have large populations of these working animals. Steve - and his donkeys - are collateral damage in a controversial global trade in donkey skin.
A worker carries a donkey skin at a slaughterhouse in Kenya

Its origins are thousands of miles from that field in Kenya. In China, a traditional medicinal remedy that is made with the gelatin in donkey skin is in high demand. It is called Ejiao.

It is believed to have health-enhancing and youth-preserving properties. Donkey skins are boiled down to extract the gelatin, which is made into powder, pills or liquid, or is added to food.

First seaplane flights in Greece to commence from Corfu

CORFU. The seaplane flights will ensure smooth transportation for the permanent residents of the Diapontia Islands and Paxos to Corfu on a 12-month basis.

The first seaplane flights in Greece are expected to commence from Corfu ust before Easter. The project, which has encountered many obstacles and delays, is finally set to take off, with Paxos and the Diapontia Islands as its initial destinations.

Approximately 15 years after the last seaplane flight to Corfu, the procedures are in the final stages for the project to become a reality. Already, the first seaplane of Hellenic Seaplanes is in Greece, specifically in Megara, and in March, the relevant licence from the Civil Aviation Authority is expected to be issued for commercial flights on a daily basis.

The President and CEO of Hellenic Seaplanes, Nikolas Charalambous, told Enimerosi that demo flights in Corfu are expected to take place in mid-April, with commercial flights starting towards the end of the month. Initially, the flights will be operated using a passenger seaplane Cessna Caravan 208C, which can accommodate up to 12 passengers per route, while two more seaplanes, with capacities of 8 and 19 passengers, are expected to arrive during the summer. According to Mr. Charalambous, ticket prices are linked to the duration of the flight. For a half-hour flight, the cost will be between 75-80 Euros.
