Google patches third exploited Chrome zero-day in a week

Google has released a new emergency Chrome security update to address the third zero-day vulnerability exploited in attacks within a week.

The company fixed the zero-day flaw with the release of 125.0.6422.60/.61 for Mac/Windows and 125.0.6422.60 (Linux). The new versions will roll out to all users in the Stable Desktop channel over the coming weeks.

Chrome updates automatically when security patches are available. However, users can also confirm they're running the latest version by going to Chrome menu > Help > About Google Chrome, letting the update finish, and then clicking on the 'Relaunch' button to install it.

Today's update was immediately available when BleepingComputer checked for new updates.

The initial investigation into the stabbing of a woman in Menidi, east Attica, on Thursday morning indicate that the victim was killed by her former husband, according to police sources.

The 40-year-old victim had filed three complaints of domestic violence against her former partner and authorities are looking or him, the same sources said. The first complaint was made in April 2013, the second in September 2022 and the third on May 7 this year, at the police station of Peristeri. Following her last complaint, her ex-husband was arrested and charged with domestic abuse. He was due in court this Friday.

According to the same sources, the victim had also installed the panic button application for women at risk of domestic abuse.

Greek fire service gets quite a few mentions during the summer but this one's a little different (they don't just fight fires!) - on Monday the fire department at Krestana were called out to rescue a Eurasian eagle-owl that was found injured in the yard of a house in Makrisia. As the piccie shows, they're a fair size.

Albania installs British-funded cameras along its border to stem flow of migrants, criminal gangs

Albania has installed a “sophisticated” network of cameras along its border with Kosovo, supplied by the British government in an attempt to stem the number of migrants flowing into the United Kingdom and to track criminal activity in the region, the UK home office said Wednesday.

Albanian nationals were among the 45,000 people who arrived in the UK in speedboats in 2022, looking for higher-paying jobs than neighboring countries such as Greece or Italy, according to British authorities and the Albanian local media. Many end up working in cannabis-growing houses for up to two years to pay back the trafficking money.

Pulling the handbrake on 70-year-olds
Statistics show that older adult drivers are culpable for numerous traffic accidents and occurrences.

How long should an adult person be allowed to drive? What does the legislation foresee? According to regulation the holder of a driving license for a car for personal use, needs to have it renewed every three years after the age of 65 while also paying the relevant sum. Additionally, there are provisions for recurring medical examinations by a pathologist and an ophthalmologist.

In the case where the holder of the driving license is over 80 years of age additional certifications are required every two years.
Insurers believe that it is good for driving licenses to be renewed every five years from the age of 70 through a self-assessment. Driving Schools, on the other hand, suggest that there should be some mandatory driving lessons for individuals over 75 years old to keep their license valid.

Kifissia: A 4.5-year-old child was left for six hours in a school bus

An incident that could have had a tragic outcome occurred yesterday Monday (13/5) in Kifissia with a child of just 4.5 years old being left forgotten for hours inside a school bus.

As the father of the child reported to the authorities, he handed his child over to the school bus on Monday morning around 8:00 in order to be taken to the kindergarten.

It appears that the child fell asleep in the back seats so that no one noticed that he never got off the vehicle.

Eventually the child remained in the school bus for approximately 6 hours and around 2:00 p.m. was located by the driver.

A charge of child endangerment was filed against the driver and the school bus attendant, with the police investigation ongoing.
