Translating printed text

I needed to translate a German printed document (7 pages) to English and it took some time and effort to do this, so I thought it would be useful to share. Translation software will not recognise a scanned page of text, so you need to be able to convert it to a Word file.
Here's how.
Scan your document to a PDF file and save
Go to an online OCR conversion
http://www.onlineocr.net/default.aspx
Click Convert and download the output file, which opens as a Word document and save
Go to Google Translate
https://translate.google.com/
and browse for your .docx file
Enter input and output languages and Translate
Copy result and paste to a new Word file
