What you've always wanted to know, but never wanted to ask (well, maybe):

How Brits went soft on toilet paper

Some of us may remember hard toilet paper and shudder a little as we recall the shiny, smooth sheets. But there was a time when Brits proved difficult to convince of the benefits of soft toilet tissue.

I remember the hard toilet paper well, not pleasant to use in the loo but great to use as tracing paper to draw maps for geography homework

We used to wrap it around a comb and put it between our lips and blow to make an instrument sought of sound.

Had forgotten all about the musical combs! (...probably 'cos I never used one). Can well remember scratching my bum on Izal when I really had to go for a poo at school - best use for the stuff really was as tracing paper, like Misty says.

Happy days (or maybe not).
