Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8955 GBP   £1 GBP = 1.1166 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.0853 USD   $1 USD = 0.9214 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.7058 AUD   $1 AUD = 0.5862 €UR
1 €UR = R20.6167 ZAR   R1 ZAR = 0.0485 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Puppies in Greece are deliberately positioned to be hit by cars.

In parts of Greece, many pet owners do not sterilize their dogs – either because they don’t care or it simply never occurs to them. The result is a puppy explosion, particularly in rural areas and on the Greek islands. Their ‘solution’ is to put the puppies on a road where they will be hit by cars.

It is commonplace for owners to take an entire unwanted litter, pack them into a car, drive them some way from their home, and dump them on a road. Often, heartless people deliberately choose a busy road to dump dogs. What happens then is a litany of horrid deaths as the squirming puppies wander this way in search of their mothers, with no chance of avoiding tons of metal smashing into their tiny bodies. The owners do this on purpose, avoiding slaughtering the puppies themselves by putting them where they are most likely to be hit and killed.

Can't say it's never happened but not convinced it's as common as the article claims, I've not heard this allegation before.

Dronamics, the world’s first cargo drone airline with a license to operate in Europe, and Hellenic Post (ELTA) have announced a LOI agreement that will bring the first postal services by cargo drone in Greece.
