Post-Brexit passport rules could see millions of Britons denied entry to Europe

Millions of British holidaymakers could be denied entry into European countries in the new year, if their passports are set to expire within six months.

This means any British person entering the Continent on January 1 with an expiry date sooner than July 2021 could be turned away, under new rules coming into force when the Brexit transition period is over.

The Passport Office turnaround time is approximately three weeks for online applications, according to the Home Office. This means that those hoping to travel in early 2021 with an expiring passport will need to renew it now.

After the end of the Brexit transition process, European Health Insurance (EHIC) cards will no longer be valid and driving rules will likely change for British holidaymakers.

Don't think there's anything new there, but might be of interest to anyone who hasn't come across that news previously.

NortonLifeLock purchases Avira for $360 million

NortonLifeLock announced today that they have agreed to acquire Avira in an all-cash transaction for approximately $360 million.

Germany-based Avira Operations GmbH has built a large user base of 30 million devices around its freemium model. Under this model, people can install Avira antivirus for free but with less functionality than the premium versions.

The freemium products will attempt to upsell users to the premium version to generate revenue for Avira. The professional versions provide enhanced security features, such as mail filtering, ad blocking, and enhanced malware protection.

By acquiring Avira, NortonLifeLock hopes to expand into the freemium consumer market and strong markets in Europe and other emerging regions.
