How to see the terrifying things Google knows about you

We have come to accept that the technology we interact with on a daily basis is tracking and recording our every move.

Your iPhone knows everywhere you've been, Google Maps is always tracking your location, and Facebook has built a detailed character profile of all its users.

By following these five steps you can see just how much Google knows about you, your interests, the places you have visited, and your search habits.

If anyone here uses ixquick.com for searches rather than Google or Bing then the note on the homepage might of interest: it's merging with startpage.com

The two are both out of the same stable but ixquick licences its search results from multiple search engines whereas startpage licences its search results from Google.

If you want to keep using the existing ixquick search formula then use ixquick.eu - and set the default language to English UK. You might also be able to use ixquick.co.uk, not sure whether that will continue to use existing engines or merge with Startpage.

Fairly brief but interesting story on the BBC of life in Syria: Why a 70s disco anthem is popular in Damascus
