The Regional Council of the Ionian Islands and the Municipality of Argostoli have committed to a 4,000,000 euro restoration and upgrade to structures following the 2020 storms, much of which will be spent on road improvements between Argostoli - Skala. No start / completion date given.

Guide Dogs charity HQ rocked by incurable canine-to-human disease
Two of the charity's dogs have been quarantined and are being handled by vets in hazmat suits after testing positive for Brucella

The young males were screened for the bacterium Brucella canis earlier this year and returned a positive test. The animals have been separated from the other dogs and are handled only by vets in hazmat suits, despite concerns the tests were false positives.

Woman in Crete arrested after leaving kids home alone

Police arrested a 31-year-old woman for endangering minors after eight young children, ranging in age from 3 months to 13 years old, were found alone inside a home on Saturday on the island of Crete.

Police investigations were launched in order to establish how long she was absent and if it was for a serious reason. According to local media reports, the incident was revealed after a complaint from neighbors who heard the children’s cries.
