Tourism season to increase to nine months

A meeting at the Tourism Ministry on Thursday decided to extend the 2016 tourism season to nine months – from March 1 to November 30.

The plan will initially be introduced in the Southern Aegean and on Crete, due to the favorable weather conditions in those southern areas, before being extended to more regions in the coming years.

Nice idea, wonder if it will work.

Don't we have the same announcement every year? seems like it.

If the travel was easier, I'd certainly visit during the "closed" season.
But what exactly does the announcement provide for, that the travel operator's will lay on more flights because of - bars and restaurants legally forced to open?

I'd think it's the tour operators who determine the holiday season period, rather than the resorts.

Yes, nothing new in this idea at all, just never seems to be happening.

Agreed, it's down to the tour companies / demand. Nothing new in this, either:  Kef's season appears to be getting shorter

According to an announcement by the tourism ministry, the strategy Greece will follow in 2016 will include a series of actions that will focus on the international promotion of the tourism brandname “Greece” along with the showcasing of new Greek destinations and alternative forms of tourism.
