Slow tourism season a boon for endangered turtles on Zakynthos

Loggerhead turtles returning to their nesting sites along the Bay of Laganas on the Ionian island of Zakynthos are experiencing a rare period of calm this post-Covid summer in an area that is usually heavily impacted by tourism at the peak of their egg-laying season.

Tui to increase UK flights to Greece

Tour operator has extended the suspension of holidays to the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands for UK customers until August 4, and will increase flights to Greece and Turkey this weekend to enable more affected customers to switch their destinations.

Searches for Spanish airports dropped out of Britain’s top 10 most searched destinations on Sunday, the day after the announcement on quarantine, with Greece’s Corfu and Crete replacing Spain’s Alicante, Malaga, Tenerife and Palma.

“King Otto”: New Film on Greece’s 2004 Football Triumph to Screen Next Year

Along with a string of other seminal dates in the long history of this ancient nation, 2004 will go down as another point in time that all Greeks who were living at the time will never forget.

A date that, when a Greek person even hears it in passing, brings them back to the almost impossible victory that they witnessed that fateful day. That most unlikely football win, against the highest of all odds, was a triumph of the modern Greek spirit.

First-time film director Chris André Marks, along with producer Shani Hinton, with executive producer Ronald L. Chez, has made a new documentary movie, titled “King Otto,” chronicling this greatest of all football victories for Greece.

What I can make out from the latest I've heard, the male partner of the 65 y-o Skala resident who tested positive for Covid-19 has also tested positive and is isolating at home while contacts are being traced.
