Greece stunned by Faroe Islands in Euro 2016 qualifying
Faroe Islands recorded a rare and arguably deserved win to stun Greece 1-0 as the hosts’ dreadful start to Euro 2016 qualifying continued on Friday and left them bottom of Group F.

The result will reignite media speculation over the future of Italian coach Claudio Ranieri, who has come under intense pressure following Greece’s poor form after taking over from Fernando Santos in July.

Matches in Greece’s professional leagues have been suspended indefinitely after a referees’ committee official was admitted to hospital following a violent attack.

Police said 45-year-old Christoforos Zografos, the assistant director of the central refereeing committee, was beaten with wooden clubs by two men on a motorcycle in west Athens in the early hours of Friday.

Matches were suspended by the government in September as a mark of respect following the death of a fan after violent clashes at a third division match.

They played the Faroe Islands' anthem before kick-off: "Whale meat again, don't where, don't know......" etc  That joke is almost as bad as Greece's performance.
