"Hello, I live in the sewers of Athens," says the cockroach. "Yes, me too," says an Athenian walking past, apparently unfazed by the idea of an insect talking to him from a drain.

Greece turns the tables on rip-off restaurant prices

A €490 bill for a plate of pasta is among tourist rip-offs that have prompted raids by the Greek police on Aegean restaurants.

The charge was part of a €713 bill for two diners at a nondescript seaside restaurant in Mykonos that included €78 for grilled chicken. At the same restaurant an American tourist was angered at being charged €591 for six pieces of calamari.

The Greek finance ministry has responded to complaints from tourists and locals about exorbitant prices and continued tax evasion with raids on islands. Undercover tax inspectors will conduct 50,500 raids in the coming weeks, according to the ministry.

Coffee 'could help you slim' by boosting weight loss

Drinking coffee could help boost weight loss, researchers say.

Experts found that drinking a cup of coffeecan stimulate “brown fat”, which burns calories to generate body heat.

Professor Michael Symonds, from the School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham, who co-directed the study, said this was the first research to show how coffee has an impact on brown fat in humans.
