The Bank of Greece will issue (3rd July) new collector coins minted in gold which is part of a themed series entitled “Greek Mythology ― the Olympian Gods.” The latest coin features Demeter, sister of Zeus, Poseidon, and Pluto. She was the goddess of agriculture, vegetation, and fertility.

Not quite sure what happened here but yesterday morning coast guard retrieved a man from the sea between Poros and Skala. So far as I can make out he was rescued alive.

Unconfirmed but since heard recovery was of a body.


Seems another body has been recovered from the sea, this latest was yesterday evening at Gradakia beach, a female aged around sixty, believed Greek national, possibly local.

Motor accident earlier today on the Koutavos road around the lagoon when an Opel saloon driven by a local collided with a bus. Driver of car hospitalised, passenger shaken, bus passengers OK. Car badly damaged, coach suffered minor damage.

A sailing yacht, BILLIS, had to be helped in to Poros port yesterday after suffering mechanical failure at sea. Six Greek nationals on board uninjured, boat confined to port awaiting repair and safety re-certification.
