Apple flaw leaves millions of devices exposed to 'ping of death' Millions of iPhones, iPads and Macbooks are vulnerable to a flaw that allows hackers to shut down any Apple devices sharing the same Wi-Fi network. The company was told about the flaw by security research Kevin Blackhouse on August 9, and has released a fix in its most recent iPhone and MacBook software update. Dr Lukasz Olejnik, independent cybersecurity and privacy researcher and advisor, told the Telegraph that the vulnerability was “as bad as it can get” and equated to a "ping of death".Apple announced that it had patched the flaw in its most recent software update for iPhones, iOS 12 and for Macbooks on MacOS Mojave. However devices that have not updated remain vulnerable.
