One hundred and thirty six new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, four on Ithaka

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8680 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.1383 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1521 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8785 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Brexit trade deals may not deliver any ‘actual economic benefits’, MPs warn
Scathing report by Public Accounts Committee criticises government’s approach

It is uncertain whether Brexit free trade agreements negotiated by Boris Johnson's government will provide any "actual economic benefits", an influential committee of MPs has warned.

In a scathing report released on Friday the Public Accounts Committee said the department of international trade had been too secretive and not kept parliament properly informed about what it was doing.

And the cross-party committee warned there was a risk consumer standards could slip because of the deals – with possible "trade-offs across different policy areas, such as agriculture, the environment and human rights”.

Tory MP Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, who deputy chairs the committee, said the department for international trade was "really struggling to point to tangible wins for British business, consumers or our own agriculture sector" from its programme of negotiations.

All remaining Covid travel measures to be axed even as cases continue to rise

Tourism companies have hailed the “final game-changer” as all remaining Covid travel measures are axed even as cases continue to rise in the UK.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said lifting the requirements, which include pre-travel tests for unvaccinated people, would allow “greater freedom in time for Easter” to go abroad.

After a meeting with senior ministers on Monday, he confirmed the measures were ending for travel to the UK from 4am on Friday under the government’s plans for “living with Covid”.

The Department for Transport (DfT) said a “range of contingency measures” would be kept in reserve so ministers could take “swift and proportionate action” in the face of potential new variants.

Google Maps down: World disappears from mapping service amid major technical problem

Google Maps has gone down, leaving users looking at a blank space.

While the website loaded almost as usual, the actual maps seem to have disappeared.

It left only a blank world, and meant that the maps were practically useless.

Other parts of the service still worked, however.

Free-range eggs unavailable in Britain from Monday
Hens have been indoors for months because of avian flu and their eggs must now be differently labelled

Consumers will no longer be able to buy free-range eggs in the UK from Monday, with birds not having been allowed outdoors since November due to fears of avian flu outbreaks.

Eggs sold in shops will have to carry a sticker or label saying they are in fact “barn eggs”, the name given to eggs produced by hens permanently housed indoors.

What is the Lifecycle policy for Internet Explorer?

Internet Explorer is a component of the Windows operating system (OS) and follows the Lifecycle Policy for the product on which it is installed and supported.

Please note that the Internet Explorer (IE) 11 desktop application will end support for certain operating systems starting June 15, 2022. Customers are encouraged to move to Microsoft Edge with IE mode. IE mode enables backward compatibility and will be supported through at least 2029.

I briefly tried the Linux version of Edge, seemed quite OK.
