I'm sure they'll be one or two corrupt politicians in Syriza but it could be that, now Pasok and ND have little influence, they're more wary of being caught offering bribes.

A man had to be rescued by police and fire crews after becoming caught upside down by his foot from a basketball hoop.

Police were called to the 'slam dunce' at Cal Anderson Park in Seattle after receiving reports of a shirtless man with a hammer hanging from the hoop.

The video shows the man moving wildly, twirling his body in an attempt to free himself as around a dozen officers look on.

Eventually, a ladder is brought along by two firefighters to help him down, at which point he was swarmed by police officers.

Seattle Police Department later tweeted: "He may be arrested for property destruction, or at least goal-tending."

As mayor stories go that was pretty tame. Particularly compared to our own home grown scandal of the now former mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman whose election was nullified last week for "corrupt practices". There are also many allegations of very dodgy dealing while in office which may yet be pursued in the criminal courts. Pretty bad even by Greek mayoral standards.
