Kef fire risk 07/06/23: Low

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.8869 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1004 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1275 €UR
$1 USD = 0.9088 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Allegedly a problem with stray dogs in Argostoli main square, two women said to have been attacked at different times, unclear if both by the same dog. One was walking a dog, which may partly explain things. No mention second female was.

According to the Mayor of Argostoli, Theofilos Michalatos, the offending dog has been caught. No mention of its fate but inferred the dog was now in the care of ARK. Also mentioned that the municipality's goal was to establish a shelter but no explanation why it wasn't reality.

Scam victims must be refunded within five days under new bank laws

New rules will require banks to give victims their money back within one working week, apart from in cases of gross negligence or where supposed victims are found to have played a role in the fraud.

Currently scam refunds are paid in line with a voluntary code of guidelines, but not all banks are signed up and fewer than half of victims get their money back.

'Non-human spacecrafts' found by US 'for decades'
Whistleblower claims spacecrafts and the bodies of ‘pilots’ have been found by the US government for decades

“Non-human spacecrafts” and the bodies of “pilots” have been recovered by the US government for decades, a former intelligence officer has claimed.

Whistleblower David Charles Grusch, 36, has said the intelligence community has engaged in a “sophisticated disinformation campaign” to hide the discovery of fragments of and whole vehicles.

Mr Grusch previously worked for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

EE mobile customers stung by new Europe fees in 47 holiday hotspots - including Spain, Greece and Italy

EE customers now have to pay extra to use their mobile phones in 47 European holiday hotspots — including Spain, Greece and Italy.

Holidaymakers risk being stung with large bills unless they make changes to their account.

Pay-as-you-go customers with telecoms giant EE are now charged 70p a minute to make a call, or 30p to send a text message when they visit Europe.

To get on the internet, customers will need to pay £3 for 500MB of data — which is enough to stream 100 songs.

Before Brexit, mobile phone providers were banned from charging British customers extra fees when they were in Europe. But these rules no longer apply.

To avoid the charges, customers can purchase a £2.50 daily pass or a £10 seven-day add-on, which allows them to use their phone as normal.

You need to opt in to these packages by replying to EE’s welcome text message when your flight lands.
