How Much? Greek State Owed Huge Amount of Uncollected Taxes

ATHENS, Greece — The Greek government is owed so much in tax arrears from households and companies that it could pay off more than half its massive public debts if it collected it all.

Unfortunately for the government, that's unlikely to ever happen.

The vast majority of state debtors (93.3 percent) owe amounts of up to 10,000 euros each, while just 1 percent are behind 90 percent of total debts to the state.

Large fire in Kefalonia threatens settlement

Authorities are expected to order the evacuation of the residents from the settlement of Zola on the island of Kefalonia after a large fire broke out Wednesday night.

Harry Potter celebrated on stamps

The magic of Harry Potter is being depicted in a new set of stamps to celebrate the popular films.

Letters are delivered by owls in the films, but the new stamps are available in post offices from October 16.
