'Cat-in-the-box' survives eight days in the post

A cat has survived eight days trapped in a box of DVDs which was posted from Cornwall to West Sussex, more than two hundred and fifty miles away.

Vets in Worthing traced Cupcake's owner through her microchip.

:hmm: The box was big enough for DVDs and the cat... and no-one thought it was a bit heavy for the number of DVDs

Georgia man loses leg after firing rifle at lawnmower packed with explosives
Injury sustained after lawnmower filled with tannerite explodes into a lethal mass of flying debris when struck by high-powered bullet

Mr Presley and his two accomplices in Walton County in the southern state of Georgia packed the lawnmower with 3ib of Tannerite... before shooting at it from just 14 yards away.

Joe Chapman, sheriff of Walton Country [said], “As a rule of thumb, I’m told that you need to be 100 yards away per pound of Tannerite.”

Visually stunning, thrillingly tense and with a coruscating cast of British stars, the BBC adaptation of the 1993 John Le Carré thriller cost £3 million per episode to make. And as the finale of this breathless six-parter is screened tonight, who could dispute that every penny lavished on its high production values wasn’t money well spent?

An excellent and gripping production. £3 million seems a lot, but some of the sets have been remarkable.

What an incredible waste of money for a boring production that turned a decent Le Carre novel into a sub Fleming fiasco.  Tom Hiddlestone is being touted as a replacement Bond.  He will get the part as probably the  only "actor" more wooden than Daniel Craig.

I have to wonder if that figure is genuine or just plucked out of the air. Quite enjoyed it so far, though I thought the bit where Pine /whoever saved the boy from kidnap and was then 'adopted' into the gang was all a bit unlikely. Lucky that one of his many skills included being a top class chef! And that no-one thought to interrogate the kidnappers. Hope the final episode (tonight) isn't a big let down.

Reminds me... hope this series of Line of Duty has a plausible ending. Just discovered it's the fourth in the series (I missed the first two).

Never been a big Bond fan. Can see Hiddleston getting the part. Wonder why Craig is moving on, must be a good little earner.

A church was presented with signs reading "Chris is risen" after a mix up at the printers.

Acomb Parish Church, in York, had ordered four banners saying 'Christ is Risen' but the 'T' was missed off the finished article.

A BBC Radio York Facebook post has been shared more than 3,000 times, prompting one person to reply 'More T vicar?'

I'm enjoying the series and lokking forward to hopefully, a good "proper" ending rather than leaving it all up in the air.

When I was in Mallorca in October for a Scuba Diving holiday I saw from the sea the complex that is Roper's home in the series. It's known as "The Fort" and is even more impressive from that angle than has been shown so far in the series.
