After strong pressure from the country’s creditors, the SYRIZA-led government has agreed to the complete abolition of the special value-added tax status for all Greek islands, even the remotest ones.

A detailed list of the islands in each category will be determined by a joint ministerial decision. The government had also pledged benefits to islanders with very low incomes but it is not clear now whether it will do so.

Unconfirmed, but heard a man is missing at sea off Avithos beach since yesterday afternoon.

Bit of a mystery this one! This guy was supposed to have flown a private aircraft out of the airport, but did not complete the required paperwork. Someone else flew the plane and had to make an emergency landing! The original pilot then hired a boat and said he was going to Dias Island and hasn't been heard of since!
This is what I heard from a Greek, so something could be lost in translation and I cannot vouch for the truth of the story.
