Much of Greece at Increased Risk of Wildfires on WednesdayMuch of Greece is at a “very high” risk of wildfires on Wednesday, according to an announcement by government officials.Authorities stated that much of the mainland, including the regions of Attica, Evia, central Greece, and the Peloponnese are at an “orange,” or very high, risk level for wildfires.The islands of Kythira, Skyros, Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Ikaria, Crete, along with all of the Cycladic islands, are also at a dangerously increased risk for wildfires.High temperatures and strong winds this week make for an especially dire combination in terms of the possibility of wildfires breaking out around the country.In case of wildfires, citizens are urged to call 199 to reach firefighters for aid.
