New objective values to come in a few days' time

The new property rates used for tax purposes, known as "objective values" and adjusted to a great extent to the market rates, will be announced in the next few days.

The new rates will concern the period after May 21, 2015, as the Council of State dictated, but will not affect the 2015 Single Property Tax (ENFIA).

In recent weeks, as the olives began to ripen, the toll on the growers has been extreme as mainly Romanian and Bulgarian thieves come and strip entire groves, beating the fruit from the trees with long poles and carting off sacks of olives for sale on the black market.

“We are not racists; we're just sick of this thieving, and we have had Spanish people stealing too, but this is a powder keg and it’s about to go off.
