Panama Papers: Mossack Fonseca leak reveals elite's tax havens

A huge leak of confidential documents has revealed how the rich and powerful use tax havens to hide their wealth.

Eleven million documents were leaked from one of the world's most secretive companies, Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca.

They show how Mossack Fonseca has helped clients launder money, dodge sanctions and evade tax.

The company says it has operated beyond reproach for 40 years and has never been charged with criminal wrong-doing.

The documents show links to 72 current or former heads of state in the data, including dictators accused of looting their own countries.

Gerard Ryle, director of the ICIJ, said the documents covered the day-to-day business at Mossack Fonseca over the past 40 years.

"I think the leak will prove to be probably the biggest blow the offshore world has ever taken because of the extent of the documents," he said.

Response to Kezia Dugdale's coming out shows we’ve come a long way
Scotland is now thought to be the only country where the majority of its mainstream party leaders are not heterosexual

Scottish Labour leader, Kezia Dugdale... joined Ruth Davidson, the leader of the Scottish Conservatives, David Coburn, leader of Ukip Scotland, and Patrick Harvie, leader of the Scottish Greens, in coming out as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender).

South of the border, 35 Labour, Tory and SNP MPs have come out, giving Westminster what is believed to be the highest proportion of gay politicians in any national parliament.

Why am I shocked but not surprised?  The only surprising thing is that tony Blair does not appear to be on the list...yet.  Given the involvement there's no chance of this being resolved.

Sounds as though ATC staff might join the ADEDY strike on Thursday, possible disruption to flights.

Port workers look likely to strike Friday, may not effect local ferry services.

Understand the news value (though to be honest, given the means and opportunity, I too would be looking to minimise my tax liability) but what's the relevance to the EU Referendum?
