Tommy Allsup: Guitarist who avoided Buddy Holly plane crash dies

Rockabilly guitarist Tommy Allsup, who narrowly avoided boarding the plane that killed Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper, has died aged 85.

The musician famously lost a coin toss for a seat on the plane. His place was taken by teen star Ritchie Valens, who also perished when the plane crashed.

It is understood Christopher Steele gathered information on football body Fifa and other countries bidding to host the tournament, mainly Russia.

Rwanda's new king named – a father of two living on an estate near Manchester

Three months after the country’s previous exiled monarch King Kigeli died in relative poverty in the US aged 80, an official decree by his chief courtier has declared his nephew Emmanuel Bushayija – a naturalised British citizen – as his successor.

Rwanda became a republic in 1961 following a referendum, a year before it gained independence from Belgian rule. The result suggested that 80% of the public opposed the monarchy but King Kigeli claimed that the vote had been rigged.

Donald Trump will take cybersecurity advice from, um, Rudy Giuliani

At the time of the September 11 attacks, Giuliani earned praise for walking the streets to reassure people, but there was a reason for this.

Mayor Giuliani decided to put the city's emergency response center in the World Trade Center, against the advice of his security officials, who felt it was potentially a top terrorist target and wanted the center in Brooklyn. As a result, the center, in Building 7 at the WTC, was destroyed in the attacks.

Lord Snowdon dies aged 86

Lord Snowdon, Princess Margaret's former husband, has died aged 86, the photographic agency he worked with has said.

The photographer, born Antony Armstrong-Jones, died peacefully at his home on Friday, said Camera Press.

Lord Snowdon married Princess Margaret on 6 May 1960 but they separated after 16 years of marriage and the divorce was finalised in 1978.
