Seventy six new cases of coronavirus confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, one on Ithaka.

Today's bank rate:
1 GBP = € 1.1523
1 USD = € 0.8488

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

UK motorists face record fuel prices as global oil costs rise

Motorists face the return of record high prices at the pumps as global oil markets continue to climb towards $100 a barrel after a slowdown in output from the Opec oil cartel.

British drivers will now pay 151.21p a litre of diesel after pump prices on Thursday climbed above the previous all-time high of 151.10p a litre in November last year, compounding the national cost of living crisis.

Meanwhile, petrol prices have moved to within 0.05p of their November record to 147.67p a litre across the country, according to the AA, and are already above the 147.72p a litre UK record in London, the south-east and East Anglia.

‘Caress-a?’: Pointless contestant’s hilarious pronunciation of Cressida Dick resurfaces

A Pointless contestant's hilarious mispronunciation of Cressida Dick's name has resurfaced following her resignation as Metropolitan Police commissioner.

EXCLUSIVE: Meet Boris's 'new eyes and ears': PM's new American-born MP aide Joy Morrissey once horsed around in a racy B-list movie under stage name 'Joy Boden'

Hers may not have been the most prominent name in this week’s ministerial mini-reshuffle by Boris Johnson.

It turns out, however, that Joy Morrissey – appointed by the Prime Minister as his eyes and ears on the Tory backbenches – has a rather colourful past.

The American-born former actress starred in low-budget films on the other side of the Atlantic before she was elected as an MP in Buckinghamshire.

One role included a racy bedroom scene in which her male co-star instructs her to ‘ride me like a donkey’.

‘Oh, I am going to ride, I want to hear you bray,’ she responds. ‘You’re a bad boy.’

Mrs Morrissey appeared as the female lead in the 90-minute movie titled Geek Mythology under the stage name Joy Boden.

'Geek Mythology: It's hard keeping it in his pants'. Could've been written about BoJo.

I'd think she'll, er, go down well at Downing Street parties.

The tiny vaquita porpoise now numbers less than 10. Can they be saved?
The rare marine mammal is facing an existential threat from fishing nets. Scientists hope they can be saved, but time is running out

The vaquita, the world’s tiniest marine mammal, has long teetered on the brink of extinction. The population of porpoises marked with black ringed eyes and smiling, upturned mouths has dwindled by a devastating 99% over the last decade.

Now scientists say their future is more precarious than ever, after a recent survey found less than 10 individuals left in the waters of their limited home range between Baja California and Mexico.

But some say there is still hope for the endangered species that has persisted against the odds.

UK online shoppers face more identity checks as new anti-fraud rules kick in
Under changes coming in on 14 March, retailers will have to verify customer is who they claim to be

Online shoppers in the UK can expect more identity checks – and probably more card-declined messages – over the coming weeks, as retailers get ready for new anti-fraud rules that come into force on 14 March.

Under the changes, before a retailer can accept an electronic (online) payment it will have to verify that the customer is who they claim to be. The measures are similar to those already faced by people logging into online banking.

While most low-value retail purchases will go ahead as before, with checks carried out in the background, shoppers buying more expensive items online will have to input a password, a pin or a one-time-passcode they have been sent via a text or landline, or log into their banking app and approve the purchase.

Industry leaders fear 1,000 Yorkshire fish and chips shops could close as costs spiral

Industry leaders have told ITV News that a third of fish and chip shops could disappear from the high street because of rapidly escalating costs.

The Leeds-based National Federation of Fish Friers says the price of fish has doubled, energy bills have spiralled and cooking oil is more expensive than ever.

Bosses say chip shops will have to raise prices to survive and many could be forced out of business.

75% rise in the cost of cod since October
81% rise in the cost of haddock in the last year
120% rise in the cost of mushy peas
40% rise in the cost of batter
