Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8906 GBP   £1 GBP = 1.1228 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.1247 USD   $1 USD = 0.8891 €UR
1 €UR = $ 1.6723 AUD   $1 AUD = 0.5979 €UR
1 €UR = R21.5592 ZAR   R1 ZAR = 0.0463 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

EFET, the The Single Food Control Body, have issued a recall for SEFTALIES WITH FROZEN PORK, manufactured by the company X. MIXAS AEBE in Kanali, Ypsilanti, Viotia.
Affected product has batch code 202314511 and consume by date 14.09.24. Not sure if these are sold on Kef but if they are the official advice is not to eat them.

COVID-19 Surge: Greece Reinstates Indoor Mask Wearing Amid Rising Cases

A surge in COVID-19 infections has prompted Greece to reinstate the requirement for masks indoors, signaling concerns about the escalating number of cases. Although the measure is currently advised rather than mandatory, health authorities are urging adherence to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Officials acknowledge mounting worries not just about the rising infection rates but also the relatively low vaccination coverage in the country. With an increase in hospital admissions due to the virus, Greece is taking precautions to curb the spread.

In the past 24 hours alone, Greece has reported 230 new cases, leading both locals and visitors to comply with mask-wearing and social distancing protocols. The move aims to ensure public safety and prevent further transmission.

Half of the population lives in Attica

Half of the population of Greece lives in just 4.3% of the territory, which corresponds to 5,241,300 people, according to 2021 census data processed by the Demographic and Social Analysis Laboratory at the University of Thessaly.

The over-concentration of Greek population in an extremely limited area of the territory makes the living conditions in Attica unbearable and threatens the region with desertification.

Implementation of the digital job card, which aims to record overtime and prevent exploitation of employees and implemented in retail and  industry since the start of the year, has been postponed until the end of the year for the tourism and catering sectors so as to ensure the summer season works smoothly.

Employees will need to download an app to their cell phone whereas employers will need a program installed on a desktop / laptop / tablet.

According to the Ministry of Labour, only employees in certain sectors, such as tourism and catering, can work Sundays and must be paid an an enhanced rate.
