Psychoactive magic mushroom found in grounds of Buckingham Palace A hallucinogenic toadstool mushroom is growing in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.The red and white spotted Amanita muscaria species - also known as fly agaric - has been discovered by Alan Titchmarsh while on tour of the grounds with ecology expert Professor Mick Crawley.The discovery of the mushroom - which is likely to have grown on the 40-acre land without being specifically cultivated - was recorded during a 12-month study for ITV show The Queen's Garden, which is to be aired on Christmas Day.Mr Titchmarsh asks Professor Crawley if the fungi is edible, to which he replies: “That depends what you mean. It’s eaten in some cultures for its hallucinogenic effects. But it also makes people who eat it very sick.“The old-fashioned thing to do was feed it to the village idiot, then drink his urine because you get all the high without any of the sickness.”
Heston Blumenthal, the celebrity chef, has dropped his supplier of foie gras after an undercover video showed ducks in horrific conditions.The video, which was obtained by the Mirror newspaper, showed ducks with throats injured by over-feeding, covered in vomit and with injured feet.The production of foie gras, which involves force feeding, is banned in the UK.Justin Kerswell, of animal charity Viva!, said: “These images of foie gras production are horrendous and some of the worst we have ever seen.“Ducks caged, scared and clearly in distress; birds too exhausted to move. There are no ifs and buts – this is torture.”

Greece’s food watchdog said Friday that it has asked for the Parga brand of olive oil in 5-liter tins to be removed from stores after it was deemed unsuitable for consumption.The olive oil is produced by the Georgios Zotos firm in Preveza, northwestern Greece. Consumers who have bought the oil are advised not to use it.
