Not sure I've understood this fully but seems Myrtos has been, and remains, removed from the list of beaches that can be granted seashore use, in effect making the kantina illegal. Sounds as though the kantina will be relocated, but how suitable the new location will be...

Strange ! I thought the cantina was a relatively pleasant addition. Considering what was or was not there in times gone by. For one the toilets where cleaner than some tavernas I've been in.

I did hear that the "greens" wanted the beach closed as some bats fly through there at night and human daytime people traffic could disturb the bats sleeping...... :dunno:

Not that I know it being one of those regular Kef visitors who have never been down to the beach itself, how likely is the cantina to take any notice??!!

I think I've posted somewhere by mistake troops but anyway the cantina is gone but ! I told the hotel guy I stay with and  he immediately called his 'mate'  in  some tourism office and was told that all businesses on greek beaches are operated under a franchise system and so the franchise is up for grabs as it were. Could explain why the actual structures still in place ?

Pretty sure the kantinas on beaches are 'franchised' from the local municipality, not sure why Myrtos shouldn't have a kantina where it was on the beach.

Is it still there? Can't say I noticed it on my last visit to Myrtos, maybe I just didn't notice it.

Yes the structure is still there being used for shade. The toilets are operational and relatively clean as are the beach showers. A lifeguard is also in attendance in the tower on the beach
