I spent most of May on Kef, in my opinion it was quiet, May normally is, hire cars still parked up in fields, one or two Tavernas in Sami did not bother to open until the last weekend, Bars half empty most nights, not a surprise to me, it was how it has always been, accommodation plentiful, two couples in a complex with 12 apartments, (10 empty) could have got in anywhere we wanted. Life is still based on having a mad six weeks! We will see later on in the year when we return, already booked with no problem.

Suspect it might be the usual story: certain islands get even more tourists, Kef gets relatively few more. As you say, Kef tourism still revolves around a mad six weeks (but at least the bridge and the square are open).

Bank of Greece warns on risk of fourth bailout

The Bank of Greece has today raised the alarm over the country’s debt pile. Issuing a clarion call to the country’s creditors to deal with a debt mountain approaching 180% of GDP, the central bank warned that failure to address the problem could risk Greece ultimately needing a fourth bailout package when its current rescue programme ends in 2018.

Greece’s debt pile, by far the highest in the EU, is currently in excess of €300bn.

And if the problem isn't addressed Greece will need a fifth bailout, then...

Does it look that way on Kef? And are people spending money?

Businesses are saying it's quieter than last year and people are being more careful with their money. We were saying the other day Katelios wasn't as busy as it could be, for the beginning of July.
