This Spanakopita Recipe Video by Akis Petretzikis Has Been Viewed More than 200,000 times

One of Greece’s most popular chefs, Akis Petretzikis, has a huge international following outside Greece, thanks in large part to his fresh look and fresh approach to cooking.

His Instagram is one of the largest in Greece with more than a million followers or roughly ten per cent of the population of Greece!

Petretzikis got his start on the popular Greek TV show Master Chef where chefs cook for a panel of judges who are established in the food industry.

He won the show in 2010 and has since become one of Greece’s most beloved culinary stars.

For his Spanakopita, Petretzikis uses fresh spinach, green onions, mint and dill to create a filling dripping of Greek flavors and aromas.

His recipe includes a simple filo dough you can make yourself— it’s that simple.

Axe personal allowance and pay everyone £48 a week, says thinktank
Radical tax proposal by the New Economics Foundation backed by shadow chancellor

The tax-free personal allowance, which rises to £12,500 in April, should be scrapped and replaced with a flat payment of £48 a week for every adult, according to radical proposals welcomed by shadow chancellor John McDonnell.

The proposal, from the New Economics Foundation thinktank, is for a £48.08 “weekly national allowance,” amounting to £2,500.16 a year from the state, paid to every worker over the age of 18 earning less than £125,000 a year. The cash would not replace benefits and would not depend on employment.

Greece Seeks EU’s ”Protected Geographical Indication” Status for Greek Yogurt

Stavros Arachovitis, the Greek Minister of Agricultural Development and Food, revealed recently that the country is in the process of obtaining the EU’s ”Protected Geographical Indication” status for the world-wide famous Greek yogurt. The new revelation was made by the minister when he spoke with interviewers from the Chinese Xinhua news website recently.

Although Greek yogurt does not have the ”Protected Designation of Origin” status like feta cheese does, Greek authorities would like to have the coveted ”Protected Geographical Indication” status which would protect consumers from misleading information as well as imitation products made by several companies around the world.
