Ithaki coast guard keeping busy: yesterday afternoon transfering a 70 y-o local in need of urgent medical attention from PisoAetos to Sami.

Motor accident earlier today on the Koutavos road around the lagoon when an Opel saloon driven by a local collided with a bus. Driver of car hospitalised, passenger shaken, bus passengers OK. Car badly damaged, coach suffered minor damage.

Apparently the accident proved fatal for the 74 y-o car driver.

The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (aka IALA) has announced the theme of World Marine Aids to Navigation Day 2019, to be celebrated on 01 July, as "Successful Voyages, Sustainable Planet". Six lighthouses in Greece will be open to the public, including the lighthouse at Fiskardo. Guided tours will be available between 10:00-19:00 on Saturday, 29 and Sunday, 30 June and Monday, 01 July.
