Greece: New Bid to Understand Prehistoric Engineering Feat

Archaeologists excavating a vast 3,300-year-old fortress northwest of Athens are hoping to shed light on one of the most impressive engineering feats of ancient Greece.

The Culture Ministry says the results of work at Glas, a low, flat hill commanding a sprawling plain, have been "particularly encouraging," revealing meticulously planned building complexes of an uncanny uniformity unknown in other contemporary sites.

Tornado rips through olive oil factory in Greece, sending debris in the air

A violent tornado took aim at an olive oil factory in Greece on Monday, sending debris into the air as the dozens of workers inside managed to escape serious injury.

The twister touched down shortly after 1 p.m. local time in the city of Kalamata, located about 145 miles southwest of Athens.

Security cameras captured the moment the violent winds sweep across the factory, sending metal panels and debris up in the air, some hitting cars parked on the side of the factory.

Even with the dramatic footage, no casualties were reported from Monday's incident.

Local media reported, however, that the storm destroyed a warehouse at the olive oil factory.

Unconfirmed but heard bad weather on Kef has brought down the 'eagle' monument between Kremmydi / Pastra and knocked out a power column at Sarlata, leaving the area around the airport without mains electricity.

Such a shame about the "eagle", it's a stunning and beautiful sculpture. Here's hoping there's not much damage and it's back up and flying soon.
