Kef fire risk 27/06/23: Low

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £0.8845 GBP
1 €UR = $1.1246 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1306 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8892 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:

Low-income renters totally priced out of housing market, data shows

Millions of private renters on low incomes are being almost totally priced out of the housing market, as new data shows just 4% of homes are affordable.

Research by Crisis and Zoopla shared exclusively with ITV News lays bare the near collapse of rent affordability for households receiving housing benefit to help pay their rent.

In some parts of the England, there are no affordable properties at all with the cost of rent outstripping incomes.

Rishi Sunak seen using erasable-ink pens on official documents and in meetings

Rishi Sunak routinely uses pens with erasable ink to make hand-written notes on official documents and in government meetings, prompting concerns over Downing Street secrecy, the Guardian has learned.

The prime minister has regularly been pictured using the disposable Pilot V fountain pens during his time as chancellor and prime minister, most recently while taking notes during the Cabinet meeting two weeks ago.

The pens, which retail for £4.75, carry an “erasable ink” logo and are marketed by the Japanese stationery company as “ideal for those learning to write with ink because if you make a mistake, the ink erases using standard ink eradicators”.

Sunak’s use of the pens has raised concerns that his hand-written notes could be erased from official papers handed over to the government archives or to independent investigations, such as the official Covid inquiry.
