Forty five new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, two on Ithaka

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8713 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.1434 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1477 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8746 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Britain could get seven new nuclear power stations by 2050

Britain could build up to seven new nuclear power stations as part of a radical expansion of homegrown energy following Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, the Business Secretary has said.

First A380 powered by 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel takes to the skies

Toulouse, 28 March 2022 – Airbus has performed a first A380 flight powered by 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Airbus’ A380 test aircraft MSN 1 took off from Blagnac Airport, Toulouse, France at 08h43 on Friday 25 March. The flight lasted about three hours, operating one Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine on 100% SAF.

27 tonnes of unblended SAF were provided by TotalEnergies for this flight. The SAF produced in Normandy, close to Le Havre, France, was made from Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA), free of aromatics and sulphur, and primarily consisting of used cooking oil, as well as other waste fats.

Good news for KefAir, if they run a bit short they can drain the local chippy's fat fryer to fuel their A380!

Sunflower oil: UK bottler has a few weeks' supply left

The biggest cooking oil bottler for UK shops has said it only has a few weeks' supply of sunflower oil left.

Ukraine and Russia produce most of the world's sunflower oil and the war is disrupting exports, said Edible Oils.

The company, which packages oil for 75% of the UK retail market, is ramping up supplies of other oils for shoppers.

What a load of rubbish: Locals around Skala are complaining about the amounts of rubble and rubbish fly tipped around the villages, accusing the present local administration of ignoring the issue and the need to tidy up before the tourists arrive. I'm only guessing here but I'd think it's locals doing the fly tipping. But it does need clearing, it's an eyesore.

Similarly, the seabed off Aetos, Ithaka, is covered in crap, partly from a long abandoned fish farm and some just dumped from boats.
