Fifty one new coronavirus cases confirmed on Kefalonia yesterday by EODY, five on Ithaka

Today’s bank rates:
1 €UR = £ 0.8600 GBP
1 €UR = $ 1.1298 USD
£1 GBP = 1.1628 €UR
$1 USD = 0.8851 €UR

Based on Alpha Bank exchange rates, these are widely used by exchange agencies in Greece.
Other banks likely to offer a different rate which may be marginally higher or lower.
Banks and foreign exchange offices normally charge standard 2% commission.
You may get a better rate changing your holiday money in advance at e.g the
Post Office.
NB: some f-ex agencies advertise "No Commission".
Invariably, they deduct commission before they (don't) advertise the rate.
Foreign exchange offices are businesses, not charities.

Ten day weather forecast for Kefalonia:
This is an overall forecast, due to the mountainous terrain the weather can be very localised.

Doubt anyone here drinks this stuff but just in case: EFET have issued an urgent withdrawal notice for '48 hours gold liquid ginseng aphrodisiac and energy drink for men' due to it containing sidenafil. So if any guys are using it as an aphrodisiac, withdraw urgently.

JollyRoger, among others, may appreciate this one: local councillors in the Municipality of Argostoli are asking what's happening re the "abandoned" fishing shelter at Katelios.

Not a lot, by the look of things. Apparently there was meant to be a storage facility, ice machine and power pillar. Hey ho, welcome to Greece.

Toxic rat poison killing growing number of England’s birds of prey

A highly toxic rat poison is killing increasing numbers of birds of prey, figures show, as wildlife campaigners call for its use to be banned outdoors.

Most recently, a white-tailed eagle was found poisoned by the anticoagulant brodifacoum on an estate in Dorset. Police closed the investigation into the eagle death last week with no charges issued.

But this rare bird was not alone.

EXCLUSIVE: Greek pilot accused of murdering his British wife while she slept has also been charged with killing their five-month-old puppy as part of a plan to make it look like botched burglary

The animal murder charge was made possible following a new law introduced last year that forbids their unlawful killing.

P&O breaks promise of a full refund for 'any customer' who cancels booking

P&O Ferries has been refusing to issue refunds to customers who cancel their bookings, breaking a pledge made on its website.

The company is struggling to restart its ferry service almost three weeks after sacking 800 crew to save money.

With Easter approaching, seven of P&O’s eight ships have yet to pass full safety inspections and remain stuck in port.
