Guests taking a week-long cruise on the Splendour of the Seas were terrified to discover their ship was on fire on Thursday morning, as thick smoke filled the corridors.Many on board are reported to be British and Irish citizens... Royal Caribbean confirmed the fire. A statement read: "As Splendour of the Seas was at sea in route to Argostoli, Greece, the ship experienced a fire in one of its two engine rooms. The ship's fire suppression system was activated, which contained and extinguished the fire. However, in an abundance of caution, it was deemed necessary to evacuate some guests from their stateroom. There were no injuries to crew or guests. The ship is currently sailing towards Argostoli and all systems are functioning."
