Wife to stand trial for allegedly raping husband

SEOUL, Oct. 27 (Yonhap) -- A 40-year-old woman has been indicted on charges of forcing her husband to have sex with her, prosecutors said Tuesday.

It marks the first time that a wife has been charged with marital rape. The Supreme Court recognized spousal rape as a crime in May 2013.

The Seoul Central Prosecutors' Office investigating the case alleges that the wife, only identified by her surname Shim, locked her husband, surnamed Kim, inside their house for 29 hours and forced him to have sex with her.

Flight monitoring system on course for upgrade

Greece has moved a step closer to upgrading its flight monitoring system, which was purchased in 1997 and is nearing the end of its working life. Infrastructure Minister Christos Spirtzis said Tuesday that he is proceeding with the tender process for the project to improve the current system.

However, experts say that a new system will be required soon despite the upgrade.

Big gap between what Greeks, foreigners pay for hotels

Room rates at Greek hotels where foreigners comprise at least 70 percent of the clientele were more than twice those of their counterparts where Greeks made up the majority of guests, according to the findings of a study by the Institute Chamber of Hotels.

The average rate of the former group of hotels was 134 euros per double room per night this summer, against 58 euros for the latter.

Maybe just me, but not sure it's clear what's being said: tourists are charged twice as much for the same type of accom as Greeks or tourists mostly opt for higher end accom whereas most Greeks can only afford basic accom.

MEPs adapt package travel rules to the digital age

Package holidays, consisting of a flight, hotel or car-hire and purchased online for an all-in price or through linked webpages, will get the same protection as packages bought in travel agencies under rules voted by MEPs on Tuesday. MEPs ensured that travellers will have more options to cancel a contract and get clear advance information on who is ultimately responsible if something goes wrong.

Earlier this year, the Air Travel Insolvency Protection Advisory Committee warned the Government that the new Directive threatened to water down protection for British holidaymakers.

Its main concern was that consumers would be protected by the country where their holiday firm was based, not by the country where they bought their holiday.
