Municipality is reminding land owners that vegetation that extends onto roads or public places needs to be trimmed to 4 metres height so as not to be hazardous to the public / vehicles. After 10/01/16 the municipality reserves the the right to carry out the work and bill the property owner.

Former FinMin Yanis Varoufakis – back with his own party in February

Former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis is planning to make his comeback into Greek politics, according to a reportage in daily tabloid Espresson on Wednesday.

Varoufakis told the newspaper that he will return in February with a Pan-European party, describing the movement he will champion as “unique” and “radical”. The political move aims to “democratize the European Union.”

A 2 kilometre-long asteroid will be zooming past Earth on Christmas Eve

This Christmas Eve, we will be able to see an asteroid in the sky.

Asteroid 2003 SD220 will zoom past Earth about 11 million km (6,787,600 miles) away, which is more than 28 times the distance between Earth and the Moon.

It's quite a large asteroid, at 2km long.

This needn't worry you, however, as this particular asteroid isn't likely to collide with Earth for at least the next 200 years, according to Nasa.

On Christmas Day, we are getting another treat from space - there will be a full moon on Dec 25 for the first time since 1977, and the same event won't occur again till 2034. It will also be the last full moon of 2015.

We will also be able to see the International Space Station on Christmas Eve, as it flies past with Tim Peake on board.

Virtual Astronomer... said on Twitter: "When the ISS passes over it will appear as an incredibly bright star like object or plane without flashing lights moving across the sky, it can be at times the brightest object in the night sky second to the Moon.

Greek doctors' long hours 'break EU law', ECJ decides

The EU's top court says Greece is violating EU law by allowing doctors to work long hours without adequate rest.

Ten Greek medical associations lodged a complaint at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) and were backed by the European Commission. The ECJ ruled in their favour, against Greek law.

The court said that Greek doctors "may have to work more than 24 consecutive hours and even up to 32 hours".
